Last Game at Old Busch Stadium

The Cardinals leave Old Busch Stadium, formerly known as Sportsman’s Park, as the y lose their final game on May 8th to the Giants 10-5. Also on the day, they trade Ray Sadecki to the Giants for first baseman Orlando Cepeda.

First Game at New Busch Stadium

The new Busch Stadium plays its first game on May 12 as the Cardinals come from behind to defeat Atlanta 4-3 in 12 innings. The attendance is 46,048.

St. Louis Hosts All Star Game

Busch Stadium hosts the All Star game on July 12 as the American League wins 2-1 in 10 innings. This events hadn’t been in St. Louis in nine seasons.

Larry Jaster has the Dodgers Stymied

Larry Jaster is fantastic when facing the Dodgers. On Sept. 28 he shuts out Los Angeles for the fifth time in five starts. In 45 innings he allows only singles to them. When facing the rest of the league he is 6-5 with a 4.54 ERA.

The team finishes in sixth place with an 83-79 record.
