Hope this hybrid blog finds you well. I have made e conscious effort to put two passions of mine together. I wanted to bring out the latest ( in this world of electronics and social media, nothing is latest), but relatively new and a chance for a bit of good, clean discussion. Today is the beginning.

The Cardinals have announced their candidates for the Hall of Fame induction in 2025. While I have my opinions on this topic, I will hold off and see if you wish to give your deliberation in the comments section.

Based on their Cardinal career which two would you vote for and why?

The Cardinals TV status doesn’t excite me greatly as I cut the cord a few years ago . Now my choices include YouTube TV with Roku. purchase Amazon Video or Fubo . All include a price. But I am not going without, even though many are clamoring fo fans to boycott anything related to the Cardinals and DeWitt family. If I do that, I feel like I am only hurting myself.

Arenado. I am pleased he is still with the team. The youngsters can learn from him immensely. Do you have a thought on the way things are being handled by the current administration/ownership.

Tyler Lyons 1988

Chad Hutchinson 1997

Ted Savage-1937

note: I met Ted about 5 years ago in at of Busch Stadium. I was sitting waiting for the gates to open and he came along and sat a few feet from me and he was holding a bag. We struck up a conversation and he told me who he was and that they Cardinals were kind enough to allow him to be an ambassador when needed. He said that maybe once a week he would meet people as a rep for the Cardinals and said he loved it in his advanced age.

When the gates opened, he stood, reached into his bag and handed me a new Cardinals cap. We went our separate ways but I will always remember Ted Savage. He died on January 12, 2023.

19TH Century Cardinal History Player Profile

Born George Washington McGinnis in 1850 in Alton, Illinois. His playing days, he was known as Jumbo McGinnis due to his very large frame. Even though he started with the Browns, he is considered the first ace in the Cardinals franchise. In 1883, he led the league with 6 shutouts. Jumbo played until 1887. He compiled a 102-79 record and had a lifetime ERA of 2.95.

He was a glassblower after his baseball career. Jumbo died of stomach cancer on May 18.1934 and his buried in St. Louis, Missouri. ( I will look for that grave and take a pic.)
