1932- The St. Louis Cardinals signed Rogers Hornsby as a free agent.
The San Diego Padres purchased Matty Alou from the Cardinals in 1973.
1977- The San Francisco Giants traded Frank Riccelli to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jim Dwyer.
1980- The Cardinals released Don Hood.
Lee Guetterman and Gerald Perry were granted free agency in 1993.
In 2006, Jeff Suppan and Jeff Weaver were granted free agency
2008- Jason Isringhausen of the Cardinals granted free agency.
2010- Pedro Feliz of the Cardinals granted free agency.
2013- Jake Westbrook of the Cardinals granted free agency.
