Pug Bennett was born on Friday, February 20, 1874, in Ponca, Nebraska. His real name was Justin Titus Bennett and he graduated from Blackburn College in Carlinville, Il.
Bennett was 32 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 12, 1906, with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for two season in the major leagues in 1906 and 1907. His first season was the better of the two as he played in 153 games and collected 156 hits and drove in 34 RBI’s.
